Word is reaching us here at that Galway City Council’s recreation, amenity, and culture committee have agreed to proceed with proposals for an allotment pilot scheme in Galway city.

A sum of €300,000 has apparently been earmarked for the scheme.

Amongst the sites proposed is one on the upper Cappagh Road, Knocknacarra, close to the parks depot at Lough Rusheen.

This was proposed by Green Councillor Niall Ó Brolcháin

At a rough estimate there are up to 100 people on the City Hall waiting list for allotments, so this development looks promising.
